Holiday Travel Insurance

The Union is please to announce that we have renewed the Members’ Annual Multi-Trip Holiday Insurance Scheme with Prestige Underwriting Services (Ireland) Ltd.

Under the scheme, members can insure their families and themselves for a 12 month period in respect of any holidays taken in that time, subject to conditions of the scheme. This year members will have 2 options, as follows:

Option A
All members wishing to renew on group renewal date 01st March – Family Premium €73.

Option B
All members wishing to renew on any other date – Family Premium €81.

Option C
Prestige are also introducing two new rates for single members and couple members as follows:

Single Member - Annual Premium €58 - regardless of renewal date.

Couple Member - Annual Premium €65 - regardless of renewal date.

Bearing in mind the difficult economic times Prestige has introduced a new cover this year which is 'Third Party Supplier Insolvency Cover'. This will cover members for up to €2,000 per trip in the event of a hotel or car-hire company going bust. This cover is given in addition to the Scheduled Airline Failure cover which has been effective for some years now.

It has come to our attention that some people who are not members of the Union availed of this scheme in previous years. As Prestige cannot be expected to check each and every application for membership, it is always possible that this problem would recur. However, if any non-member is accepted inadvertently into the scheme, their insurance is invalid and any claims made will not be covered.
