Statement from the Public Service Executive Union regarding Legal Fees and Minister of State John Halligan

By Billy Hannigan, Deputy General Secretary, Friday, 10th November 2017 | 0 comments

Media reports are suggesting that Minister of State Halligan has indicated that he is prepared to pay the legal costs of the woman involved in in taking the case against his Department following her discriminatory treatment in a job interview.

The fact of the matter is that the person concerned is a member of PSEU and the costs involved in pursuing her case will be fully covered by the Union.

There is no question of the Union seeking the recoupment of its costs from anyone.

One of the values of Union membership is that one’s membership subscription fully covers the costs involved in taking such claims against employers without the need for individual Union members being exposed to significant legal expenses.
